[edit] About
Gangsta rapper Dr. Dre (Andre Young) was born on February 18, 1965 in Los Angeles, California. World Class Wreckin' Cru and Dr. Dre started performing at clubs and parties. In 1986, Dr. Dre met Ice Cube, the duo started writing songs together for Ruthless Records. Eazy-E tried to give the song, "Boyz-n-the Hood", that the duo made to HBO but refused to use the song. The duo was formed into N.W.A. (Niggaz With Attitude). In 1987, N.W.A. released their debut album. The next year Straight Outta Compton followed. "Fuck tha Police" became a hit with no help from the radio, press or MTV, the media refused to air the song for the hardcore lyrics. The FBI gave the duo a warning.
In 1989, Ice Cube left Ruthless Records for financial Disagreement. In 1991, at the peak of N.W.A's popularity Dr. Dre slowly started leaving the crew. He was also charged for assulting a host of a rap show. In 1992, he successfully left and formed Death Row Records with Suge Knight. There was also a rumor that N.W.A's manager refused to let go of Dr. Dre, Suge Knight held him at gunpoint and threatened to kill him.
In 1992, Dr. Dre released his first solo single, "Deep Cover". After the singles hit Snoop Dogg. Snoop was discovered through Warren G. In 1992, The Chronic, Dre's debut album was a multi-platinum. It included the notorious singles "Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang" "Dre Day" and "Let Me Ride". In 1993, he also produced Snoop's debut album, Doggystyle. He also worked with Blackstreet on their single "No Diggity". Dr. Dre reunited with Ice Cube on the single "Natural Born Killaz". Dre didn't release another album for quite some time, he was working on his label and Death Row was on the palm of his hands.
In 1996, Death Row was at it's highest. Dre got tired of Knight's techniques. The label was busy with 2Pac's debut album, All Eyez On Me and Snoop was busy with his murder trial. In 1996, Dre left Death Row and made Aftermath. Knight was later on imprisoned. The album wasn't as successful as his previous album eventhough it got the media's attention. In 1999, Dre released, 2001.
