About

Early Years

Donell Jones was born on May 27, 1973 at Chicago, Illinois. During his younger days he listened to his mom play different kind of music and by eleven got his first keyboard where he quickly learned how to play. Inspired by his father who also happens to be a gospel singer, Jones slowly learned to love music. One day, while performing he got a huge applaud from a group of girls during a performance in high school and this incident made him decide to focus music full time. Jones admitted "that music was a great outlet" specially people like him who was trying to escape the prevalent gangs around Chicago.

Big Break in Producing

Jones got his big break on 1993 at Washington when he was invited to perform BRE conference. Nobody went on to see the conference and realizing it would be their last chance, they went down and sang anyone they could. Untouchables Entertainment took notice of him and was signed a record deal. A few days after signing, the record deal turned sour and immediately wasting no time, Jones was engaged in producing records. He produced famous music such as Usher's "You Took My Heart" and "Think of You". He also penned songs for teen pop sensation 702 and R&B group Silk.

Debut Album and Popularity

Not long after, he signed a record deal with LaFace Records and released his debut album My Heart that features uncanny remake of Stevie Wonder's "Knocks Me Off My Feet" and the ghetto anthem "In The Hood". This album introduced him to his many fans worldwide that made him popular as an R&B artist.

Reviews

Donell Jones delivers R&B music so full of energy that entices ladies to stick with him on the music "This Luv", "Shorty" and "Where I Wanna Be". He doesn't wait wasting much time but induces himself to start moving and make the first move. Similarly, his music are reflections of his life like the many promises of Untouchables Entertainment executive Eddie F. but wasting no time started to hone his penning and producing skills alone. -- Ericgo 04:25, 16 February 2007 (PST)
