Don Henley the founder of the Popular band, The Eagles and an American rock singer, songwriter and drummer, who rose to fame via her hit single, "The Boys of Summer".

About

Don Henley or "Donald Hugh Henley" in real life was born on July 22, 1947 in Gilmer, Texas. He grew up listening to country music and later spent six years playing in a band that had formed during high school. Don transferred in Los Angeles in 1970. He recorded an album with his first band, "Shiloh". The album was produced by Country Singer, Kenny Rogers. Kenny and Don both became a members of Linda Ronstadt's backup band.


It the fall of 1971, Don and Linda formed the band name, The Eagles, a group that pioneered and personified a uniquely American musical style blending country, folk, R&B, rock and pop sensibilities. The Eagles would go on to become one of the most creatively and commercially successful bands of all time, selling over 100 million albums worldwide. The Eagles won numerous Grammy Awards during the 1970s and became one of the most successful rock bands of all time. In 1980, the band was disbanded.

After the dissolution of the Eagles in 1980, Don Henley emerged as a strong soloist. His first solo album, I Can't Stand Still was released in 1982. It features the hit singles, "Dirty Laundry", "Johnny Can't Read", and "Them and Us". His next album, Building The Perfect Beast was released in 1984. It issued the hit singles, "The Boys of Summer", reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, "All She Wants to Do Is Dance" which charered number one on US MSR, "Sunset Grill" which landed at #7 on the US MSR. The album became a Certified 3x Multi-Platinum.


In 1989, his next album, The End of The Innocence was released. The album features the singles, "The End of The Inoncence" which chartered at #8 on the US Singles Chart, "If Dirt Were Dollars," and "New York Minute". The album is a Certified 6x Multi-Platinum. At last count, The album had racked up sales of over six million in the U.S. alone.


In 1990, Don founded the Walden Woods Project to help protect Walden Woods from development. To date, the Walden Woods Project has raised over 22 million dollars, most of which has gone toward the purchase of environmentally sensitive and historically significant acres in the Walden Pond environs.


The Eagles held their reunion tour and live album in 1994. In 2000, Henley released another solo studio recording, Inside Job, containing the lead single "Taking You Home". The album however did not find the commercial success of his two previous releases. In that same year, Don co-founded with Sheryl Crow the Recording Artists' Coalition, a group founded to protect musicians' rights against common music industry business practices.
