Doc's Da Name 2000 was released on November 24, 1998 by Def Jam Records. The album debuted at number eleven in the Billboard 200 albums chart. And was certified platinum in the United States.

It features three singles that charted "I'll Be Dat" #50, "Da Goodness" #50, and "Let da Monkey Out" #99 in the Billboard Hot R&B charts.

  • New Jersey rapper Tame One is credited for the song "Close Ya Doorz". Yet, the former Artifacts-member is not on the song. As Tame One explained in an interview, there existed a different version of the song featuring additional verses by him and Rah Digga, but the song didn't make it on the album.
