About
Country music artist Dixie Chicks was formed in 1989 composing Emily Robison, Martie Maguire, and Natalie Maines. The name was taken from the Little Feat song "Dixie Chickens" which promoted a classic cowgirl image. In 1990, the trio released their debut album, Thank Heaven For Dale Evans. But it was their 1992 album, Little Ol' Cowgirl, that made the girls change their style to a more contemporary sound. Unfortunately, the change made Robin Lynn Macy left the group.
In 1993, they released, Shouldn't A Told You That, without Macy. When they signed in with Sony Records, Laura Lynch also left the group and was replaced by Natalie Maines. The reason Lynch left the group was because Seidel and Erwin wanted to have a more younger image. In 1998, they released the album, Wide Open Spaces, which went quadruple platinum. The album included the hit singles I Can Love You Better" and "There's Your Trouble", both the singles peaked the Country Charts. The chicks also won the Best Vocal Group from the American Music Awards. The album also won a Grammy for Best Country Album.
In 1999, the group released, Fly, with the single "Ready to Run" and "Goodbye Earl". In 2002, the chicks performed with Shakira, Mary J. Blige, Cher, and Celine Dion at the Fifth Annual VH1 Divas Show in Las Vegas. At the same year, they released their sixth album, Home. In 2006, Taking The Long Way, hit stands and topped the charts.
