[edit] About

Canadian R&B singer Deborah Cox was born July 13, 1974 in Toronto, Ontario to Guyanese parents. At the age of 12 years old, Cox sang in TV commercials. With the support of her mother she also entered talent shows. As a teenager, she performed at nightclubs and started to compose her own songs with the help of Lascelles Stephens, a writer and producer. Stephens and Cox became romantically involved later on. She started out as an R&B singer but she is more famous for her dance remixes.

Cox started out as a backup vocalist for Celine Dion. In 1995, she signed on with Artista Records and released her debut album, Deborah Cox. In 1998, her follow-up album, One Wish hit shelves. The single, "Nobody's Supposed To Be Here" peaked at #1 on the R&B 100 Charts. In 2002, her third album, The Morning After, was released. The next year, Remixed followed. On 2004, Cox was in the broadway, Aida, an Elton John-Tim Rice musical. In 2006, her single "A House Is Not A Home" was a huge hit, topping the Billboard's Dance/Club Play Chart. Cox will release her single "Definition Of Love" soon and is expected to release her fifth album in 2007.
