[edit] About

During the period between release of Merry Christmas and recording of Daydream, Carey and her then husband Tommy Mottola were said to have tension between them. For Daydream, Carey took more creative control over her songs and composed songs with Walter Afanasieff. She introduced more R&B sounds than her previous Pop Sound. Daydream and its tracks were nominated for six categories in Grammy Awards but won none. The single "One Sweet Day" holds the record for spending the most number of weeks at number one in Billboard Hot 100.
