David Cook is the Grand Champion of the Seventh Season of American Idol. His winning piece, "Time of My Life" is now a big hit in almost several countries.

David Cook or "David Roland Cook" in real life was born on December 20, 1982 at Houston, Texas to "Beth Cook" and "Stan Cook". He started performing when he was in his second grade at elementary school. His teacher gave him his solo performance in their school choir. David formed the band called, Axium in 1999 until it was disbanded in 2006. He was still in high school when he founded the band. After the band was disbanded, David transfereed in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he joined the tour of the band, "Midwest King". In 2006, he released an independent album, Analog Heart.
In 2007, he auditioned for American Idol held in Omaha, Nebraska. David was not the person who likes to auditioned there at first, he only accompany his brother. His brother, however, encouraged him also to joined the auditioned. His auditioned piece was, "Everything I Do I Do It For You" of Bryan Adams. Luckily, the judges were impressed and sent him at once in Hollywood. On the contest proper, He sang, Michael Jackson's single, "Billie Jean" with his own rendition. The three judges most especially "Simon Cowell" was very impressed telling the public that his performance "was in a different league to anything he heard on the season". Paula Abdul cried at the good rention of the song. His performance was seen by 4.5 million viewers in the You Tube. David won the American Idol Seventh Season on May 21, 2008.
After the contest proper, David will released his self-titled debut album on November 2008 by RCA 19 Records. His single, "Light On" was released last Septemer 2008 and debuted at #17 on The Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart and #8 on Hot Digital Songs Chart. His other single, "The Time of My Life" landed at #1 on US Digital Singles Chart and #1 on The US Adult Contemporary Singles Chart.
