About
Alternative rock band Dashboard Confessional originated in Boca Raton, FL. The band was originally a one man act of singer and songwriter Christopher Carraba. He released an acoustic album, Swiss Army Romance, in 2000. A friend of his heard his compositions and encouraged him to pursue it full-time. Carraba's compositions were sang by a lot of hardcore punk bands. In 2001, Dashboard Confessional became a full band and released The Places You Have Come to Fear The Most. The single "Screaming Infidelities" became a huge hit.
In 2003, the band was composed of Carrabba (vocals, guitar), John Lefler (guitar), Scott Shoenbeck (bass), and Mike Marsh (drums) with the album A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar. The singles "Hands Down" was at #8 on the modern rock charts. Dashboard Confessional was busy touring in 2004.
Don Gilmore, producer of Pearl Jam and Good Charlott with Daniel Lanois contacted Carrabe after hearing his demos. They were both recording together but they didn't have enough time to finish the project since they had tours but Carrabe kept writing and ended up having an album worth of songs. The two decided to team-up and make an album which resulted to Dusk And Summer which was released in 2006.
