Damageplan is an American heavy metal band formed on 2003. The band showcased to audiences their groove metal sound played by guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott and drummer Vinnie Paul.

[edit] Formation

The band was formed on 2003 by Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul after the disbandment of Pantera. Bob and Pat joined the group and together they formed Damageplan and played great music togther. On February 2004, they released their debut album New Found Power that reached #34 in the Billboard charts.

[edit] Murder of Darrell

An incident happened on December 8, 2004 after Nathan Gale shot Darrell during a concert at the Alrosa Villa Night Club in Ohio. The incident killed Darrell that happened while he was singing "Breathing New Life". When police arrived they shot the attacker.

After the death of Darrell, the band decided to dissolve the group. However according to an internet source they might be releasing their second and final album sometime 2005 mostly a product of their demo records while Darrell was still alive. As of April 2007 there was still no formal announcement as to when it be released.

• According to www.blabbermouth.net it has reported that members of Damageplan may release their second and final album with Dimebag's final recordings later in 2005. However as of April 2007, it is unknown how complete these recordings are or when they will be released.
