Da Brat is one of the successful female artist to have platinum albums in the 90's. Her debut album Funkdafied which was smash hit was produced by Jermaine Dupri.

About
Sexy rapper Da Brat or also known as Shawntae Harris in Chicago on April 14, 1974. Rapping since 11 years old, her strong image was discovered by Jermain Dupri in 1992 when she won an amateur rap contest. Dupri signed her with So So Def Label. In 1994, her debut album, Funkdafied, was released which was produced by Dupri. The singles "Fa All Y all", "Funkdafied" and "Give It 2 You" was a huge hit and made her the first female rapper to reach a platinum selling album. The album topped the R&B Album Charts.
In 1996, Da Brat's sophomore album, Anuthatantrum. It's single "Sittin' On Top Of The World" and "Ghetto Love" entered the R&B Chart. The album sold millions of copies. Da Brat also made guest appearances with other artists such as, Mariah Carey, Missy Missy Elliott, Total, Dru Hill and Lil' Kim.
In 2000 Da Brat was arrested for assault for pistol-whipping another woman at a night club. She was plet guilty but left with a fine, probation, and community service. Later on, she released her third album, Unrestricted, with a sexier image. "That's What I'm Looking For" and "What'Chu" were the album's successful singles. In 2003, she released her fourth album, Limelite, Luv & Niteclubz. It included the remix versiono of "I Think They Like Me," by Dem Franchize Boyz. In 2005, her latest album, Ghetto Love, was released. In 2007, she is expected to appear on the Celebrity Fit Club's 5th season.
