About

Crowded House was formed in Melbourne, Australia by "Neil Finn" in 1985 along with "Paul Hester", former drummer of Split Enz, "Craig Hooper" on guitar and "Nick Seymour". The band was originally called, "The Mullanes". Neil formed the band after the disbarment of Split Enz. In June of 1985, the group moves to Los Angeles to shop for a record label, eventually signing with Capitol Records. Capitol requested that the band change its name and the group settled on Crowded House.

The band's self-titled debut album was released in 1986. The first single, "Mean To Me" failed to chart. The next single, "Don't Dream It's Over" became a massive international hit. The single chartered at #2 at the US Singles Chart and earned their MTV Video Music Awards for Best New Artist in 1987. His next album, Temple of Low Men was released in 1988. It features the single "Better Be Home Soon" which landed at #42 in the US Singles Chart. Other singles from the album are "Into Temptation" and "Sister Madly".

After the Temple of Low Men Canadian tour, the group decided to take a break and Neil began writing some songs with his brother "Tim Finn" for an album they were considering to release under the name Finn. He is also busy preparing the third album of the band. Tim was also recruited to join the band. In 1991, the band returned with their third album, Woodface which featured seven songs written by Tim and Neil. The album spawned the singles, "Chocolate Cake" and "Fall at Your Feet".

Their next album, Together Alone was released in 1993. It features the hit singles, "Distant Sun", "Private Universe" and "Locked Out" which chartered at #1 on the US Singles Chart. After the released of their album, the band embarked on a successful European tour. They were beginning an American tour when Paul decided to leave the band to spend more time with his new family. Finally, in 1995, the duet album of the Finn Brothers was released. In 1996, the band was officially disbanded.
