Cowboy Troy is an African-American Country rap singer who rose to fame via his album, Loco Motive.

Cowboy Troy or Troy Coleman in real life was born on December 18, 1970 at Victoria, Texas. He graduated at Skyline High School. He took up his Bachelor's degree at the University of Texas.

Cowboy started her career in 1989 by performing at several clubs and developed a style he calls hick-hop, which blends various country, rock, rap and tejano influences. In 1993, he met "John Rich", John was a member of the group, Lonestar that time. The two has kept in touch as John took the band at the top.

Troy went to Nashville in 1999 to shop his rap-meets Country demos. John was now working with "Big Kenny" that time and they were busy hosting then "Muzik Mafia nights". The duo or simply called, Big & Rich asked Troy to appear in their debut album, Horse of A Different Color which became a chartbusting hits. In 2004, Troy performed "Rollin" with the duo on the 2004 Country Music Association Awards that made him, the second black artist to take the stage. After that, Cowboy signed a recording contract under Warner Bros. and worked with his debut album that were produced by Big & Rich.

In May 2005, Cowboy released his debut album, Loco Motive which debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top Country Album Charts. It features the single, "I Play Chicken With The Train" and chartered #48 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs. His other single is "If You Don't Wanna Love Me" with Sarah Buxton. He recently released his second album, Black in the Saddle.
