About
Rock star Courtney Love (Courtney Michelle Harrison) was born on July 9, 1965 in San Francisco, California. Love’s parents were Linda Caroll, a therapist and Hank Harrison, a publisher. She traveled the world with her family living in a free and hippie lifestyle. In 1984, her grandmother gave her a trust fund. Love decided to spend it by traveling to Ireland, Taiwan, Liverpool and Japan
When she got back, Love started singing in the Bay Area where she got the attention of Alex Cox, a movie director. He cast Love in his film, Sid & Nancy, as Nancy’s best friend. It was followed by her appearance in Straight To Hell. Love moved to Minneapolis and joined an all-female band, Babes in Toyland. Later, she was kicked out.
Jobless with no money left in her pocket, Courtney applied to be a stripper but was denied due to her weight. In 1989, she went back to LA and started a band called Hole. They released their debut album, Pretty on the Inside. In 1992, she married Nirvana’s Curt Kobain. She was already carrying their daughter, Frances Bean, when they got married. Kobain was battling with drug abuse and later on shot himself in the head in 1994.
Courtney struggled through her husband’s sudden death but managed to release her album, Live Through This, a week after. It was an instant platinum hit. It was shortly followed by the band’s bassist, Kristen Pfaff, death due to heroin overdose. Courtney decided to pursue acting and starred in the film, Feeling Minnesota, The People vs. Larry Flynt and Man on the Moon with Jim Carrey. Courtney never fails to shock her fans in her concerts and in other red carpet appearances.
