About
Corey Clark or "Corey Delaney Clark" in real life was born on July 13, 1980 in San Bernardino, California to "Duane Clark" and "Jan Clark". He was raised in Denver. Corey started singing at the age of 11 years old. He got his professional start at age 12, singing with his parents as back-up for Barry Manilow. He formed an R&B vocal group called "Envy" at the age of 14. One of the former member is the popular singer, Neyo. The group won several talent contests in Las Vegas and signed its first production contract when Corey was 17. But the contract did not result in a record and the Envy members eventually learned about the many obstacles to success in the music industry as they went their separate ways in 2000.
In 2002, the family moved to Nashville. At that same month, the Phenomenal hit TV Show, "American Idol" has begun their local auditions in that area. Corey tried his luck to audition and luckily he was one of the chosen one to go to Hollywood. After the elimination round in Hollywood, Corey became one of the Top 10 finalists. At the start of the second season of the show in January 2003, Corey immediately became a crowd and judge favorite, and has become one of the most memorable top ten finalists to date.
However, during the competition proper, A magazine entitled, "The Smoking Gun" exposed that Corey had been arrested in October 12, 2002, after his neighbors called police because they heard a commotion within the residence, including a girl yelling. Due to the controversy of charges that he assaulted his teenage sister and resisted arrest in an altercation, Corey was voted out of American Idol.
After two years, Corey again went into a controversy because of his allegations that he and Paula had a relationship. The show's producers, as well as Paula, fiercely denied the charges, calling Corey an opportunist who was just trying to stir up interest in his forthcoming book of Idol memoirs. His debut album was released in October 2005.
