[edit] About
Ciara's father was a military man, and towed her to his various posts in Germany, New York, California, Arizona, and Nevada. They finally settled in Atlanta, capital of the Dirty South, while she was still a little girl. She first wanted to become a model, but after seeing Destiny's Child perform on TV, she decided that that was what she was going to do, become a professional singer. So she isolated herself from the world to concentrate on her music career.
The stint started out roughly, but soon Ciara joined a girl group called Hearsay that performed in Atlanta. But the gig was short-lived. She went solo, quickly grabbing a recording deal. It all happened very quickly, but Ciara never hesitated. So she started writing her own songs, got a record deal, and met Atlanta producer Jazze Pha, who immediately set out to make her a record under his Sho' Nuff label. Ciara wasn't just that good. Ciara was good enough to drop the jaws of R&B master Lil Jon, who pioneered the crunk genre. In his words: Crunk & B songs are R&B songs that get you crunk. They make you wanna wild out.
Ciara's debut single Goodies made her a superstar. With the lyrical help from Lil Jon, she was able to achieve her talent in songwriting as well. The song was an instant hit, reaching the top of the United States pop and R&B/hip-hop charts, and also charting in the United Kingdom (in January 2005, also reaching number one), Australia, Germany, Sweden, and New Zealand. With all the hype, Ciara was able to release her debut album Goodies (LP) on September 28, 2004. The album sold out 2 million copis worldwide and gaining the Billboard Charts as it's peak position of #3. The album produced other mega hits such as 1,2 Step featuring Missy Elliott and Oh featuring Ludacris.
The hip-hop princess is now working on her second album The Evolution due out in November 14th 2006. The first single Get Up is featured in the soundtrack of the upcoming film Step Up. The single is starting to gain worldwide success and is climbing up the charts fast. Making it another hit for the first lady of crunk.
There is more to come with Ciara as she embarks on an acting career as well. She made her acting debut in the MTV Films coming-of-age film, entitled All You've Got, as Becca Watley, the queen bee of a high school volleyball team the Little Madonnas. The film was released on DVD May 23, 2006.
