About

Born Christopher John Boyle on July 20, 1964 to parents Ed Boyle and Karen Cornell in Seattle, Washington. His father worked as a pharmacist while his mother is an accountant. When his parents divorced, he and his siblings' last names were changed to their mother's maiden name. Chris Cornell's adoloscent years was not the same as the average American teenagers. He became depressed and spent most of the time at home. He even experimented on using drugs. The Beatles became his biggest influence in music finding a huge collection of it in an old basement. Chris Cornell worked as a cook before he became successful, the reason he dropped out of school to help support his mother and siblings.

Soundgarden was formed on 1989 in Seattle where other successfu acts such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam originated. The group became successful, winning Grammy awards, reaching multi-platinum status and creating a different style of music - grunge. The supergroup sold more than 5 million copies of their albums.

Two years after Soundgarden disbanded in 1997, Chris Cornell decided to continue making music on his own and released his debut solo effort, Euphoria Morning. Though the album was not as successful as his previous efforts with Soundgarden, he was nominated for 2000 Grammy Awards for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance for the single, Can't Change Me.

In 2001, another supergroup, Audioslave was formed. Cornell rebuilt his life by chaging his ways, staying away from drugs and alcohol. Despite the massive success of the group and after releasing three successful albums, Chris Cornell permanently left the group on February 15, 2007.

Chris Cornell is set to release his second album Carry On on June 5, 2007.
