Former model "Cassie' exploded into the New York music scene in 2006 with her hit single, Me & U. This Multi-racial, Filipino-American-Mexican is now dubbed as the Princess of NextSelection. And all this was by accident.

Cassie Ventura was born on August 26, 1986 in New London, Connecticut to a Filipino father and an African-American and Mexican mother. She is trilingual, she speaks English, Tagalog and Spanish fluently. She was into music at the age of 16 and took voice lessons after being inspired by her chance meeting with producer Rockwilder. After gradutaing from Williams School in the Connecticut College campus in 2004, she began modelling under Wilhelmina Modelling Agency, working in photoshoots for Adidas, Complex Magazine, and Abercrombie & Fitch campaigns respectively. But eventually quit after an infuriating statement from the agency that told her to lose weight.

A chance meeting with producer Ryan Leslie where she met in a New York club called Marquee. Weeks later, Leslie saw her again at Diddy's birthday bash in November 2004 and finally had talks of making an album. Cassie was surprised about eveything since all of it was by accident.

Cassie's mother requested if she could record a song for her as a birthday gift. The single was entitled, Kiss Me. And Cassie performed the song in front of former Sony chairman, Tommy Mottola (Mariah Carey's ex-husband and responsible for the careers of artists like Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, and Lindsay Lohan). Afterwhich, she struck a deal with Leslie to produce her album. She signed with Diddy's label. Bad Boy Records after he heard Me & U played at a club.

Her self-titled album, Cassie was released in August 28, 2006. The album gained mainsteam success, thanks to her carrier single Me & U. Soonafter breaking into the music scene, Cassie had a lot fo commecial offerings. She was requested by Mario to appear in his latest video, Here I Go Again. Rapper Missy Elliott made her the face of Respect M.E.', Missy's clothing line. Complex Magazine featured her on a swimsuit spread and "Target wanted her to be the prime billboard in Times Square.

Things was looking up for Cassie. But with success comes controversy. She was accused of lip-synching her performances, as seen on "TRL' and BET's 106 and Park. Her voide was low and overpowered by her back-up singers. In her online journal, she states that she is still overcoming her stage fright. Even so with all the hype, Cassie still reigns as a breakthrough R&B artist.

Cassie has just finished production of her next video, Long Way 2 Go. and is awaiting release.
