Rapper Cassidy was born as Barry Adrian Reese on July 7, 1982 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Known for his freestyle techniques, Cassidy started in battle rapper and recording mix tapes. He signed with J Record and made his debut appearance on Swizz Beatz's album, Presents G.H.E.T.T.O. Stories in 2002. In 2004 he released his debut album, Split Personality. It reached at #2 on the Billboard 200 Album Charts. The single "Hotel" featuring R. Kelly reached the Billboard Hot 100, Australian Top 40 and U.K. Charts. The singles "Get No Better" and "Make U Scream" were also a smash hit. In 2005, he released his follow up album, I'm a Hustla.
Cassidy was involved in a murder investigation. A 22 year-old-man was shot on April 15, 2005. He was charged with first degree murder. A sentence of 11 to 23 months was given to Cassidy. On March 2, 2006 after serving 8 months in prison he was released. Cassidy is presently on parole and is devoting his time recording his third album.
