Carmit Bachar began with The Pussycat Dolls doing a specialty act, a ball number with a contortionist vibe, nearly 10 years ago. She has background in rhythmic gymnastics and it wasn't difficult for her.

Carmit was born in Los Angeles, California on September 4, 1974, with a cleft lip/palate, she is of Israeli/Chinese and Dutch/Indonesian descent and comes from a family of entertainers. She competed internationally as a rhythmic gymnast for 10 years, and placed 5th in the Olympic trials in 1992. She also competed in the Gymnastics World Championships. During her career competing on the National Team, she attended Hamilton Academy of Music in Los Angeles, studying music, dance, and also piano and viola.

She joined The Pussycat Dolls in 1995, two years after they were first formed by Robin Antin as burlesque troupe. She has been a member of the Dolls longer than any other performer.

  • Bachar admits she once was a blonde but became a redhead eight years ago. Says the woman whose nickname is Foxy, "My personality is definitely that of a redhead".
  • Bachar is in the process of founding a non-profit organization for children in the cleft community, one that has begun with an event called Smile With Me. As she puts it, "With getting more attention, I feel a responsibility to stand up for who I am".
