The album was released on September 8, 1998 by Universal Records. The album charted at #2 spot at the Billboard 200 albums chart and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The album was led by its lone single "Second Round K.O." that charted #3 and #13 in the Hot Rap Tracks and Hot R&B charts respectively.
