UK-based trio Busted was formed in the late 2001 comprising of James Bourne (rhythm guitar, born September 13, 1983), Charlie Simpson (lead guitar and/or drums, born June 7, 1985) and Matt Willis (now named Matt Jay)(bass guitar, born May 8, 1983). They started out playing pop-punk-driven sets at amusement parks and schools and later entered the mainstream when their debut single What I Go To School For debuted at number three on the singles chart in September 2002.

Busted first appeared in early 2002 with a bold single What I Go to School For. Its harmonies and cheeky curse lyrics "I fought my way to the front of class, to get the best view of her ass" was a big hit with the kids and has immediately put the boys to stardom. Their PG-rated lyrical content related to blink-182 and Good Charlotte is perfect for an audience raised on boy pop.
Following their first hit What I Go To School For, Busted has released three more singles including the number one You Said No (Crash & Burn) followed by a successful UK tour.
By July 2003, their biography appeared on print followed by their second album A Present for Everyone released in December 2003.
In January 2004, Busted earned nominations in Brit Awards for Best British Group, Best British Breakthrough Artist and Best Pop Act.
In January 2005, the boys decided to part ways formally to pursue their individual interests.
Simpson went on to play with the rock-act Fightstar (a post hardcore band which music is far different from Busted). Bourne formed his band Son of Dork and Willis has set up a solo career and released his first single Up All Night in May 2006.

- The full names of the members of Busted are Charles Robert Simpson, Matthew James Willis and James Elliot Bourne.
- Busted’s 1st single, What I Go To School For, got to number 3 in the UK.
