Brian McKnight is a songwriter, multi-talented musician, arranger and a producer. He also produced and composed songs for other artists. His single, "One Last Cry" became an instant hit.

About

Brian McKnight was born on June 5, 1969 in Buffalo, New York. The younger brother of Claude V. McKnight of an acapella gospel outfit Take 6. Brian grew up in a family where music came naturally. He was a choir member along with his immediate family while his grandfather was the director of the said choir group.

Brian began his musical career in and around Buffalo, New York. He exercised his writing skills by penning instruments, formed a band, and began performing at local venues. After sending out record demos to various recording companies, Brian's demo was heard by Mercury Records President, Ed Eckstein. Ed was impressed with Brian's sound that after two weeks, Brian signed a recording contract with the said recording company.

He recorded his self-titled debut album which was released in 1991 and the first single, "The Way Love Goes" was released which reached number 11 spot after 19 weeks on the Billboard R&B Charts. His next single, "Love Is", a duet with Vanessa Williams which featured on the television series Beverly Hills, 90210 peaked at number 3 spot on the Billboard Pop Charts. Another single, "One Last Cry" climbed to number 13 in the later part of that year.

His next album, I Remember You was released on 1995, sold more than half a million copies and reaching Top 20 on Billboard R&B Charts. His third album, Anytime was released on 1997 which Sean Combs produced. The single, "You Should Be Mine" reached top 20 of R&B Charts.

Brian released his first Christmas album, Bethlehem under Motown Records in 1998. A year later, he released his next studio album, Back at One which was a big hit. The title track spent several weeks at number 2 on the US Hot 100 chart. In 2001, he released his next album, Superhero that contains a rock title track and in 2003, he released another album, U Turn contained a ballad songs. Brian lie lowed from music for a while, on that break, he played basketball for the California ABA basketball team, Ontario Warriors.

After two years of being inactive, he returned in the music scene in 2005, releasing his new album, Gemini and in 2006, he released the album, Ten.
