About

Break the Cycle is Staind’s second album under Flip/Elektra, officially released on May 8, 2006. It is entitled such because it refers to the family issues of the band’s lyricist and vocalist, Aaron Lewis. It reflects Lewis’ emotions put into writing. The softness of the majority of the tracks sets them apart from other alternative/rock bands. Breaking the Cycle's singles like For You, Fade, & It's Been Awhile are all time favorites. It also includes an alternate version of MTV-endorsed acoustic ballad "Outside,” another chart topper for the band. The tracks range from macho (“Can’t Believe) to mellow (“Outside” and “Epiphany”). It’s definitely an album that can be listened to over and over again.

Trivia

• The woman in the “It’s Been Awhile” video is actually Aaron Lewis’ wife.

• Lewis penned the track "Waste" after a mother approached him after a show in Detroit, looking for answers as to why her son committed suicide.
