[edit] About
When Grand Puba's group Master of Ceremony split up sometime 1989, it was during that time he formed the group Brand Nubian together with Sadat X and Lord Jamar. Together, the trio went on to released their first ever self titled single on the same year. Shortly after their first single, they were signed by Elektra Records to released their debut album One For All on 1990.
The album was generally acclaimed as it drew attention to militant Five Percenter. This controversy helped the albums sold but to date only managed to sell 350,000 copies. Three singles of the album were doing well in the charts.
On 1993, life goes on without Puba as other members were having problems with him. It was also this year they released their second album In God We Trust were the hit single "Punks Jump up to Get Beat Down" was included.
The group's next release was "Everything is Everything" on 1994. Again it was involved in a controversy over the alleged albums hate lyrics where it received mixed reviews. Then the group broke up on 1995 left Elektra and launched solo careers in music and entertainment.
When the group reunited on 1997 after an almost 3 years hiatus in the industry, it was this time they released their fourth album on 1998 with the original members coming back with a brand new record label Arista. The album was entitled Foundation. This time the album was widely acclaimed featuring contributions from larger group of producers.
On 1994 together again, they released their fifth album Fire in the Hole their first released under an independent label Babygrande Records. Their last and probably their last album released is Time's Runnin' Out.
