One of the popular existing group which was formed in the late 70's was behind one of the fasting-selling group albums in history, Boston is a Hard Rock band. They released several Platinum Albums including the phenomenal self-titled debut album.

Boston was formed in 1976 at Boston, Massachusetts by, "Tom Scholz" on keyboards, a MIT graduate, "Barry Goudreay" on guitar and Jim Masdea" on drums.
In 1976, their Phenomenal self-titled debut album was released under Epic Records. Barely, after two months of released, the album earn an RIAA Gold Record Award. The album chartered at #3 on US Pop Albums Chart. After 3 months, the album became Platinum and was the fastest selling debut album for any American group. The record ranks as the best-selling debut album in U.S. history with over 17 million copies sold, a rank it still holds. The album features the single, "More Than A Feeling". In 2003, the album was already a Certified 17x Platinum.
Their second album, Don't Look Back was released on August 1978 under Epic Records. The album landed at #1 on US Pop Albums Chart. It features the single on the same title which landed at #4 on Billboard Hot 100. The album sold over 4 million copies in the first month of its release, and over 7 million total in the U.S. The album features other singles like, "A Man I'll Never Be" and "Feelin Satisfied".
In June 1994, their next album, Walk On was released under MCA Records. It chartered at #7 on The Billboard 200 Albums Chart and was certified Platinum. The album features the single, " I Need Your Love". Their latest album, Corporate America was issued in August 2002 under Artemis Records. The album landed at #42 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart and #3 on Top Independent Albums Chart. The band is currently having their Concert Tours.

- The album Don't Look Back" was among the first commercially produced compact discs when the format was introduced in 1983, but because of ongoing legal issues between Tom Scholz and CBS Records, the title was pulled after a small production run and did not re-appear on CD until three years later.
