Craig David's debut album was Born To Do It with a UK topping hit "Rewind". The slightly arrogant title owes to the children's classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, which Craig enjoyed watching as he was growing up. Read on to find out why.

About

Born To Do It, which peaked at #1 at the UK charts, was released under Telstar Records in 2000 with "Rewind" immediately landing at the UK charts at #2. Strongly influenced by the garage scene and The Artful Dodger, this album gives us a taste of smooth RnB music plus excellent writing skills of a then young Craig David.

Trivia

The title of his debut album can be attributed from Craig's favourite film while growing up "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory". In that the candy man is asked how he makes such great candy. But rather than explain he just replies that you wouldn't ask a fish how it swims or a bird how it flies because they were "born to do it".

Reviews

Born To Do It turned to be one of the best cd's in my collection, and one of my favorites as well. After hearing the other tracks in the album, which proved to be as good as the carrier single, I said to myself, this album is worth my money and much more! --vheliefish
