About

Blackstreet became the top R&B in the 90's after it was formed by Ted Riley when he broke up with his seminal trio Guy. For a while, he had focused on his music production business and felt the urge to comeback in the performing arena. This urge resulted in the formation of Blackstreet on 1992 together with Chauncey Hannibal, Levi Little, and Joe Stonestreet. Before releasing their debut album, Stonestreet was replaced by Dave Hollister. Their debut album soon was certified platinum by RIAA.

Subsequently after releasing two more singles from the album, Hollister and Little decided to go on their solo career and was replaced by Mark Middleton and Eric Williams. Both set the tone for Blackstreet to become more even popular with their follow up album Another Level. The album release hit single "No Diggity" on top of the Billboard Hot R&B and Hot 100 charts for four weeks.

They released their fourth album, Finally on 1999 where it struggled to be certified gold after tensions within Riley and with their label, Interscope's Hannibal spelled the end for Blackstreet. Reports surfaced in early 2000 that Hannibal had sued Riley for two million dollars, but after Riley filed a countersuit, Hannibal denied that he had ever taken legal actions. After the rumors, the group released Level II in 2003.
