[edit] About

Alternative rock band Black_Kids began in 2006 at Jacksonville, Florida. The band consists of Reggie Youngblood (vocals/guitar), Dawn Watley (vocals/keyboard), Owen Holmes (bass) and Kevin Snow (drums). The group met through Sunday school except for Reggie and Ali who are siblings. In 2007, Black Kids gained their popularity when they began posting songs on their MySpace account. The singles “I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance with You” and “Hurricane Jane” were smash hits. Word spread so fast through the net.

In 2007, Black_Kids performed at the CMJ Music Marathon where they caught the attention of a number of labels. After their performance, the band was booked by Quest Management for a tour in England. They signed in with Columbia Records (US) and Gold Records (North America), issuing their debut album, Partie Traumatic, in 2008.

[edit] Reviews

  • Black_Kids has an interesting infusion of ‘60s and ‘80s pop. Their songs are upbeat and high spirited. The singles that they play has an atmospheric wave and grooves. --Mimi 11:10, 23 February 2008 (PST)
