Big Punisher or Big Pun is a hip-hop rapper from New York of Puerto Rican descent. His career ended after a fatal heart attack on 2000 due to his obesity. In the present, he is survived by his family, wife Liza Rios and three children.

[edit] Early Years
Big Punisher was born on November 9, 1971 as Christopher Lee Rios in The Bronx. During his childhood he grew up playing basketball and boxing as well as other sports. His early years was very difficult as he recalls experiencing his mother's illegal drug abuse, his father left the family, and his step father was very hard with him. After the difficulty Pun encountered finally he decided to dropped out of high school and for some time became homeless living in the streets or friends house.

His music career started when he began to write rap lyrics in the 1980's where he was known as "Big Moon Dawg". On 1995 he met Fat Joe who helped him made his commercial debut by including him on his second album J.O.E. (Jealous Ones Envy) for the track "Watch Out". Big Pun also appeared on the album from The Beatnuts on the track "Off The Books".
On 1998, Big Pun released his first full length album entitled Capital Punishment. The album was highly successful that went on to be certified platinum, the first for a Latino rapper. The album was also nominated for a Grammy Award Best Rap Album for the Year 1999.

His career ended on February 7, 2000 after a fatal heart attack due to his obesity. Currently he is survived by his wife Liza and three children. Two months after his death his second album, Yeeeah Baby was released on April 4, 2000 which peaked at #3 in the Billboard albums chart and earned platinum status. A second posthumous album, Endangered Species, was released in April of 2001 which was a collection of some of Big Pun's greatest songs.
