Bette Midler is a multi award-winning Grammy actress, singer and an author born in Hawaii. She appeared as a living rock n'roll singer based on the life of Janis Joplin in The Rose, where she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.

Singer and comedian Bette Midler born December 1, 1945 in Paterson, NJ but was raised in Hawaii. Midler was already a natural born entertainer she showed her interest in singing and acting at a young age. In th 1960's she moved to New York to be a part of a boradway titled Fiddler on the Roof. Midler also started performing live at nightclubs as a singer and comedian. In 1972, Midler released her debut album The Divine Miss M. In 1973, she released her self-titled debut album Bette Midler (album).
Through the 70's Midler's albums always entered the Top 100. In 1979, she started acting and starred in the film The Rose. The following year, she did a concert film, Divine Madness. Midler did a lot of film for a span of time but in 1989, she came back with a new version of the single "Wind Beneath My Wings" for the film Beaches. The single was #1 hit. At the beginning of the 90's she went back to the studio and started recording her new album, Some People's Lives which sold over millions of copies. The single "From a Distance" peaked at #2 on the charts. In 1995, Bette of Roses was issued reaching a gold-status. In 1998, she released Bathhouse Betty under Warner Bros which was followed by Bette in 2000. Her first christmas album came out in 2006 called Cool Yule. Johnny Mathis did a duet with Midler for this album.
