Benzino is an American rapper from Boston rose to fame via his debut album, The Benzino Project.

About

Benzino or "Raymond Scott" in real life was born on October 24, 1965 in Boston, Massachusetts. He began his career with a group called Almighty RSO. The group has released their first single, "The Greatest Show on Earth" in 1986 under Boot Records. Their first album, Forever Doomsday was released at that same year under Tommy Boy Records. The group has spawned more albums before they were disbanded. Benzino formed a new band called, Made Men in 1998. The group issued several albums and singles before he went solo. He met The Source, a popular Hip-Hop magazine founder "Dave Mays" while visiting Harvard University in which he help Benzino to signed a recording contract under Motown Records. He was also added to The Source's masthead.


He released his debut album, The Benzino Project in 2001. It contains the hit singles, "Boottee" and "Bang Ta This". The album also features the likes of famous rappers, P. Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Bobby Brown, Pink and Teddy Riley. The album sold 75,000 copies. After the released of the album, Motown dropped him.


His second album, Redemption was released in 2002 under Elektra Records. The album two pair of singles, "Rock The Party" and "Would You". The album sold 20,000 copies. With that poor sales result, Elektra decided to drop Benzino.


In 2005, he released his third album, Arch Nemesis under ZNO Records. The album features from, Lil Jon, Scott Storch and 2Pac. His latest album, The Antidote was also released last August 2007.
