About
Beenie Man or "Anthony Moses Davis" in real life was born on August 22, 1973 in Kingston, Jamaica. By the time he was ready for school, the young man had already decided on a career as a DJ. Beenie Man won the first prize at The National Teeny Talent contest at the age of 8 years old. This led to a meeting with producer Junjo Lawes, who recorded the diminutive DJ's debut single, "Too Fancy.".
Beenie released his debut album, The Invincible Beenie Man: The Ten Year Old DJ Wonder in 1983 which also features the single, "Over The Sea". In 1984, he recorded some songs such as, "Under Mi Sensi" and "Two Sounds". He signed a recording contract under Island Records in 1994. His album, Under Mi Sensi was released in 1995. However, his big break came in United States in 1997 by released his first international hit, "Who Am I" which became a certified Gold.
He signed a recording contract under Virgin Records in 1998. His album, Art and Life was released in 2000 which chartered at #1 on the Top Reggae Albums Chart. He also released other hit singles, Romie", and "Girls Dem Sugar" in the late 90's. His duet with Janet Jackson entitled "Feel It Boy" was released in 2002. His latest album, Undisputed was released last 2006.
