Be Your Own Pet is an Alternative rock band. The band became a big hit on the U.K. radio chart. They were also known for their singles "Damn Damn Leash" and "Hillmont Avenue".

About
Punk/garage band Be Your Own Pet started in Nashville, Tennessee on 2002. Jemina Pearl's brother, Jake played bass and called themselves the Night Shift Nurses. They had some of their first gigs at local pizza parlors and coffee shops like Guido's Pizza and Bongo Java. The present line-up consist of Jemina Pearls (vocals), Nathan Vasquez (bass), Jonas Stein (guitar) and John Eatherly (drums). The group had an underground release of the single "Damn Damn Leash". It was an instant hit. It was played in the BBC Radio One which caught the attention of XL Records who offered them a contract. They re-released the single. Be Your Own Pet continued to play at house parties and local gigs. In 2004 they rocked the CMJ at New York. It was in 2006 that the band issued their self-titled debut album followed by Get Awkward in 2008.
