About
Early Life
Hip hop artist Bahamadia (Antonia Reed) was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During the 80’s, she started out as a DJ at local parties. Bahamadia took one step forward upfront to the mic. It was producer DJ Ran who helped her release her independent single “Funk Vibe” in 1993. The single got the attention of MC Guru and got her signed in with Chrysalis Records.
Early Career
The singles “Total Wreck” (1994) and “Uknowhowwedu” (1995) were received by the underground jazz openly. Bahamadia was included in MC Guru’s Jazzmatazz project. In 1996, her debut album, Kollage, was finally released. The album was produced by DJ Premier and Guru.
When Chrysalis was in the verge of bankruptcy, Bahamadia did other projects and did appearances with other artists. The appearances made her reputation solid. In 2000, Bahamadia released her follow-up album, BB Queen.
