Avril Lavigne is a Grammy Award nominated Canadian rock artist who sold over 27 million album copies worldwide. Last 2006, Canadian Business Magazine ranked her the seventh most powerful Canadian in Hollywood.

Avril Ramona Lavigne professionally known as Avril Lavigne was born on September 27, 1984 at Bellville, Ontario, Canada to conservative Franco-Ontarian parents, John and Judy Lavigne. She grew up in Napanee singing country music and in a church choir and taught herself to play the guitar. Lavigne is the middle child in family. She has one brother named Matt and a younger sister named Michelle. Even as a child, she is really something already. Avril is distinguished from her female peers because of her strong affinity for the baseball field in summer and the hockey rink in the winter.
(Early) Life
By age 10, she had graduated from the local church choir to the regional fairgrounds, singing country music in competitions. She was only 12 when she wrote her first song. Three years later, Avril began making he impact outside of Napanee, winning a contest that gave her the opportunity to sing with another Ontario native, country music star Shania Twain.
She was discovered by her first professional manager, Cliff Fabin ,while singing country covers at a Chapters bookstore in Kingston, Ontario. At age 16, she was signed in by Ken Krongard of Arista Records.
2002-2003
Reportedly, early attempts to co-write songs for her falied to meet her approval. Avril moved to to Los Angeles, California to co-wrote her album. Her first album Let Go leads to her career breakthrough. It was released by Arista on June 4, 2002 in the United States, reaching No.2 there and No.1 in Australia, Canada, and United Kingdom. It was certified four times platinum in less than four months and has sold 14 million copies worlwide as of December 2004.
2004 to(present)
Her second album Under My Skin, was released on May 25, 2004. It debut No.1 in U.S.A., U.K., Germany, Japan, Canada, Australia, Canada, Spain, Ireland, Thailand, Korea and Hongkong. Avril wrote most of the songs in the album, proving that she is not just another pretty face.
Avril also co-wrote "Breakaway", recorded by Kelly Clarkson for the soundtrack to the film The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement which was also included on Clarkson's second album, Breakaway. It went to peak at No.6 in the US.
Avril to made her film debut in the animated film "Over the Hedge", which is based pm the comic strip of the same name, together wiht William Shatner, Bruce Willis, and Gary Shandling. She is also acting in the Richard Gere film "The Flock" and her third project is "Fast Food Nation", based on her favorite book.
In January 2006, Avril signed a contract with Ford Models. She appeared on the covers of several magazines already. Her third album The Best Damn Thing was released in 2007.
In 2004, Avril Lavigne entered her first public romance with Sum 41 front man Deryck Whibley, and they married in 2006. In 2009, Lavigne filed for divorce, and began dating actor Brody Jenner in 2010.'Italic text''''Media:Example.ogg
