Avenged Sevenfold is a hard rock metal band that was formed in 1999. The name of the band came from the Book of Genesis in the Bible where Cain is sentenced in exile for murdering his brother.

About

Five-man band Avenged Sevenfold (A7X) began in Huntington Beach, CA in 1999. They all met during high school. M. Shadows, Zacky Vengeance, Synyster Gates, Johnny Christ and the Reverend formed A7X. In 2001, they boys released Sounding The Seventh Trumpet under Good Life Label. Avenged Sevenfold is a mixture of punk-pop and metal rock. In 2003, they shifted to Hopeless Records and released their follow-up album, Waking The fallen. It was followed by City Of Evil in 2005. The album was a huge success and was played in MTV extensively. The band received the MTV Video Music Artist Awards in 2006. Avenged Sevenfold decided to cancel their tour and go back to the studio to record their self-titled follow-up album which was released #1 in the charts in 2007.
