[edit] About

[edit] Formation

The band started out back October 2000 after the break up of the band Rage Against the Machine after Zack de la Rocha left. When the three decided to stay and hang on, they continued playing under the new trio Rage. Until one time, when Rick Ruben, a music producer suggested that they play music together with Cornell. The chemistry was amazing and soon started to work in the studio on May 2001 writing 21 songs in barely three weeks time.

[edit] Audioslave (album)

When the group temporarily broke up on early 2002 before even releasing their debut album, they tentatively named their band "Civilian". One evident aspect of the break up was when they cancelled their appearance on an annual rock music festival. After subsequent interviews, it revealed that the break up was due to the fact that they sacked their previous management companies and hired Los Angeles-based company The Firm.

On November 2002, their self titled debut album was released which became instant success hitting triple platinum status. In addition to promote their album, they toured extensively worldwide in 2003, gaining largely positive reviews for their live performances.

[edit] Out of Exile

Their second album Out of Exile was releaed on May 24, 2005. Their success continued when it debuted at #1 in the U.S. charts attaining platinum status.

On this summer, they performed 8 concerts in Berlin Germany. During this time, they reaped several awards including a nomination for the 2006 Grammy Awards in the "Best Hard Rock Performance" category for their song "Doesn't Remind Me".

[edit] Revelations and Cornell

Their third album was released on September 5, 2006 when they hired producer Brendan O'Brien who had worked with artist such as Korn, Soundgarden, Incubus among others. The band wasted no time writing 20 songs and returned immediately to studio for the albums released. The album has a number of songs influenced by old-school R&B and Soul.

And on February 15, 2007, Cornell officially announced his departure for the group issuing a statement that:

"Due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave. I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavors.ยจ
