Asia is a popular band since the early 80's up to now. They produced hit albums including their self-titled debut album.

Asia was formed in 1981. It was formed after the group, King Crimson was disbanded. Original member of the band, "John Wetton" with "Bill Bruford" and Rick Wakemen" merged together in 1976 to talk about creating a new band with "Alan Holdsworth" and "Eddie Jobson". Their debut album was released in 1978. After two years, another band was created by John, Rick, "carl Palmer", "Trevor Rabin". However, Rick declined with the project. The group was called, Asia in 1981. Other member includes, "Geoff Downes".
In 1982, their hit self-titled debut album was released. It chartered at #1 on U.S. Billboard Albums Chart for nine weeks. The album sold four million copies in the US alone. It sold over 10 million copies worldwide. It is a Certified 4X Platinum. The album also features the singles, "Heat of The Moment" which chartered at #1 on the US Mainstream Rock, and "Wildest Dream" which landed at #28 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock.
Their next album, Alpha was issued in 1983. The album features the single, "True Colors" which landed at #20 on the US Mainstream Rock Charts. The album chartered #6 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart. Their next album, Astra was released in 1985 under Geffen Records. Several more albums were released like, Aria in 1994, Arena in 1996 among others and their latest album, Phoenix which was issued last April 2008.

- The single, "Heat of the Moment" is also featured in the film The Matador in the scene in which Pierce Brosnan's character must commit an assassination at a horse race. Since horse races are run in "heats," this usage could be considered a musical pun.
- A cover of the song "Heat Of The Moment" is playable in the Playstation 2 game Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s.
