[edit] About
Born as Ashlee Nicole Simpson on October 3, 1984 in Waco, Texas but raised in Dallas. An accomplished dancer, Ashlee began taking classical ballet at the age of three and was admitted at the School of American Ballet in New York at the age of 11. During this time, she suffered an eating disorder which lasted for 6 months and because of this she only weighed 70 pounds standing 5ft 2in tall, but her parents stepped in and get her to eat more. After her sister Jessica got a record deal, the family decided to move to Los Angeles, California where she began appearing in TV commercials. Ashlee became Jessica's backup dancer after the success of the first album and later began appearing in films and television series. In 2003, she breifly worked as MTV VJ on TRL and later recorded a song "Just Let Me Cry" for the soundtrack of the film Freaky Friday, starring Lindsay Lohan. Eventually, she signed a recording contract with Geffen Records.
Her debut album, "Autobiography" was released in 2004, and was well-received, however her vocal talent was questioned in a controversy that arose when she attempted to lip synch and the wrong song played live on SNL. Her sophomore album, "I Am Me" was released the next year, and did almost as well, however it became notable that Simpson was moving in a more dance direction. This was scene even more with her third album, "Bittersweet World", released in 2008. By that time she was married to Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy, and promotion for the album was canceled early due to her pregnancy. On November 20, 2008 Simpson gave birth to Bronx Mowgli Wentz. She is currently working on her fourth album.
