Ashlee Simpson' has a career that was better than that of her sister Jessica Simpson had. She rose to promenence when she released her debut album in mid-2004.

About

Born as Ashlee Nicole Simpson on October 3, 1984 in Waco, Texas but raised in Dallas. An accomplished dancer, Ashlee began taking calssical ballet at the age of three and was admitted at the School of American Ballet in New York at the age of 11. During this time, she suffered an eating disorder which lasted for 6 months and because of this she only weighed 70 pounds standing 5ft 2in tall, but her parents stepped in and get her to eat more. After her sister Jessica got a record deal, the family decided to move to Los Angeles, California where she began appearing in TV commercials. Ashlee became Jessica's backup dancer after the success of the first album and later began appearing in films and television series. In 2003, she breifly worked as MTV VJ on TRL and later recorded a song Just Let Me Cryfor the soundtrack of the film Freaky Friday. Eventually, she signed a recording contract with Geffen Records.

In October 23, 2004 in an epsidode of Saturday Night Live, she was to perform two songs. Her first song Pieces of Me was performed with no problems, but when she began her second song Autobiography (single, the vocals for the song Pieces of Me was heard again. Simpson began to dance spasmodically and then left the stage while the live band continued playing. In the colsing of the show, Simpson appeared with guest host Jude Law stating that her band performed the wrong songin the openning performance and commenting that she thought she'd to do a howdown follwoing the musical number. 2 days after the incident, Simpson called in to the music video show "TRL" and explained that her doctor advised her not to sing because of a complication arising from a severe variation of acid reflux. She then explained that her father required her to usa a guide track for the performance. On October 30, CBS news program 60 minutes aired footage from Simpson's rehearsals before the SNL performance in which she is shown to be disturbed by voice trouble.

Her debut album was released prior to the SNL incident, and debuted number one. Fifteen months after the release of her debut album, she released another album which also debuted number one.
