About

Arkarna is a London-based quartet formed in the mid-90s. They bumped into each other at Rollover Studios in West London, where Ollie Jacobs was handling engineering and production duties for dance acts including Pressure Drop, Dread Zone, Leftfield and others. At that time, James Barnett was already an accomplished musician. He and his band Lunarci was already a nightly performer at UK Club Megadog. Later on, the duo became friends and formed a group called Arkarna - a name derived from a Tarot cards that means "hidden knowledge.

Eventually, the duo recorded and independently released their very first single called R U Scared, which received a critical raves coming from underground music fans. This success has quickly put them to signing WEA. Soon after, Lalo Creme dropped by Rollover Studios to look for work and found one as the third member of the group. Prior joining Arkarna, he had been skateboarding and playing club gigs around Los Angeles with little success. Their debut single under WEA was released afterwards and went straight into the UK Top 40.

Following its release, James, Ollie and Lalo began recording their debut album for WEA UK and embarked on a tour as a band for the first time. Still looking for the fourth member of the group, while on tour, they have recruited Bid, the band's veteran session player to fill in the missing personnel. By the end of the tour, he was proclaimed by the trio as the official fourth member of Arkarna and included in their recording sessions.

Eventually, their full-length album Fresh Meat (1997) has been released to the public with House on Fire and Eat Me were two of its hits. Following Fresh Meat was their sophomore effort, The Family Album (2000) that contains the singles Skin and Rehab.

Currently, the band is on indefinite hiatus as each of the members were busy doing individual projects.
