Aretha Franklin is an Award-winning American gospel, soul and R&B singer. She was tagged as The Queen of Soul. One of her hit album released is, Young, Gifted and Black, which was released on January 24, 1972 at Atlantic Records.

Aretha Franklin or Aretha Louise Franklin in real life was born on March 25, 1942 at Memphis, Tennessee. She grew up in Detroit, Michigan. Aretha was tagged as The Queen of Soul. She is the second most honored female singer in Grammy Awards after Alison Krauss.

She started her music career when she performed at the Detroit church. When she was 14 years old, Aretha made her first recording as gospel singer. John Hammond of Columbia Records heard Aretha's songs so he immediately signed her recording contract. Her first album was released in 1960

When Aretha left Columbia, she immediately signed a recording contract under Atlantic Records. She released her first single, "I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)" under Atlantic.

In 1967, Aretha released her first album, "I Never Loved a Man (the Way I Love You)]]" under Atlantic. It includes her hit singles, "Baby I Love You", "Chain of Fools" and "Think" and "Respect". Aretha released several top ten hits in the late 60's until the late 70's. Aretha released many hit albums under Atlantic including her number one hit singles, "Something He Can Feel", "Sweet Passion" and "Almighty Fire".

Aretha achieved 15 Grammy Awards including 1995 Lifetime Achievement award and an Honorary Doctor of Law Degree. She was the first woman to be inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. She is now living at Oakland County.
