About
Aphex Twin (Richard David James) was born on August 18, 1971 in Limerick, Ireland. In the 1980's Twin started playing at raves as a DJ. In 1991, he released his debut album, Analogue Bubblebath, with Tom Middleton under Might Force label. When Middleton left to pursue his career, Twin recorded a sequal for Analogie Bubblebathe and was played on the Kiss FM in London.
In 1993, Davis signed in with Warp Records and Surfing On Sine Waves was recorded. Later that year, Analogue Bubblebath 3, for Rephlex. Recorded as AFX was released. He also went on tour with Orbital and Moby and later left from the live performance schedule. The single "On" went to #32 on the British charts. The following year, his album Selected Ambient Works, Vol. 2 became the butt of the joke. The album went to #11 on the British charts and earned him an Amercican contract with Sire. In 1994, he released the fourth Analogue Bubblebath. The following year, he released a compilation of his R&S singles. On April that year, I Care Because You Do followed.
In 1996, he released an album, Expert Knob Twiddler, a collaboration with Richard James and Michael Paradinas. The fourth album of Aphex, Richard D. James Album, was released on November 1996. In 2000, nothing was heard from james but he was busy recording a Chris Cunningham short film exhibited as part of the Apocalypse exhibition at London's Royal Academy. In 2001, Drukqs arrived. With his busy schedule James still DJ-ed. In 2005, Analord was released.
