About

Annie Lennox was born on December 25, 1954 in Aberdeen, Scotland. As a child she was already into music, she learned how to play the flute and piano. In her teen years she won a scholarship and attended London's Royal Academy of Music but dropped out of school. Annie started working on the day and at night she was singing. She met guitarist, Dave Stewart, and asked her to join his new band called Tourists. The band released three albums.

Enjoying their success Lennox and Stewart became involved. In 1980, the lovers left the band and began Eurythmics. They became an over night sensation with #1 hits in both U.K. and U.S. They had hit singles such as "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)", "Love Is a Stranger", "Who's That Girl" and "Here Comes the Rain Again". From a pop duo the Eurythmics transformed into a rock & roll genre.

In 1990, Lennox announced that she was taking time off to have a child. Slowly Eurythmics was never heard of ever again. Lennox had a baby and started working on her solo album. In 1992, her debut album, Diva, was released. The album showed a calmer and mature Lennox. The album was nominated for three Grammy's and sold over two million copies. In 1995, she released her follow up album, Medusa which included the hit single "No More I Love You's". The album eventually went Platinum.
