Angie Stone is an American Grammy nominated, R&B, Hip-hop, and neo soul singer and songwriter. Her clear old school music influence is often compared to that of Aretha Franklin.

About
Angela Laverne Brown was born on 1961 in Columbia, South Carolina. Her musical career started in the 1980's where she is a member of band The Sequence, the first major female hip-hop group. After the group disbanded, she then worked with Mantronix and performed vocals and saxophone for Lenny Kravitz.
She then emerged during the 1990's as part of the trio Vertical Hold together with Willie Bruno II and David Bright where they released two albums "A Matter of Time" and "Head First". Again, after disbanding on 1996 together with Gerry Devaux and Charlie Mole they formed Devox where one album received a Japanese only released.
It was on 1999 that she realized that it would be best for her to go solo, thus released her first solo album Black Diamond on September 28 of that year via Arista.
