About
After Tom DeLonge departed Blink-182 in early 2005, he went on to form a new band called Angels & Airwaves (also known as AAA or also sometimes credited as AVA) which he publicly announced via Kerrang! magazine in September of the same year. AAA has released two charting albums to date that won't take positions below top 10 on Billboard Hot 200. Their first album called We Don't Need To Whisper (released in May 2006) peaked at #4 on Billboard Hot 200 and earned them winnings such as Woodie of the Year (a.k.a. Artist of the Year) at mtvU Woodie Awards as well as nominations for Best New Artist at MTV Video Music Awards and Best International Artist at MuchMusic Video Awards. The album also granted a gold certification by RIAA after release.
In November 2007, the group issued their sophomore effort entitled I-Empire. It's first single Everything's Magic became the most requested song on California-based radio station in August 2007, as well as reaching #3 on iTunes Rock Chart a month later. The song was also featured on their MySpace profile started August 28, 2007. The album also debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at no.9 and reached a sale of 66,000 copies in its first week.
Currently, they are in the works for their documentary Start the Machine.
