About
Anberlin was formed in 2002 by musicians Stephen Christian on vocals, Joseph Milligan on guitar, Nathan Young on drums, Joey Bruce on guitar and Deon Rexroats on bass. The quad did a five-song demo which caught the attention of Seattle in Dive Tooth and Nail and which therefore led them to sign a recording contract under it. The band's first album, Blueprints For The Black Market was released in May 2003, barely a year after the band was formed. Included in the album are their singles, "Ready Fuels" and "Change The World"; the said album sold over 60,000 copies.
In February 2005, they released their second album, Never Take Friendship Personal. Two singles were released from the said album namely, "A Day Cafe" and "Paperthin Hymn". The band had also recorded covers of the Bob Dylan song, "Like A Rolling Stone" and the Depeche Mode's song entitled Enjoy The Silence. Their third album, Cities was released in February 20, 2007, which debuted on at number 19 on the US Billboard Album Charts. The album sold 34,000 copies in its first week of release.
Right after the release, Nathan left the band and was replaced by Christian McAlbaney, formerly a member of Acceptance.

Trivia
- Christian had long planned to name his first daughter Anberlin. Struggling to find a name for the band, Stephen suggested it. "We were all sitting around trying to come up with a name. None of us were married or had kids, but one day I was going to name my daughter Anberlin, so I figured we could name the band that until we thought of something better. So we chose Anberlin and no one has thought of anything better."
