Anastacia is an American pop singer and songwriter who is noted for her powerful and alluring vocals. She has sold over 34 million records since the release of her debut album Not That Kind in 2000.

Born Anastacia Lyn Newkirk on September 17, 1973, she is professionally known as Anastacia where she is noted for her powerful vocals and ability to hit the high notes in her chest. She was born in Chicago, Illinois from a showbiz family. Her father Robert Newkirk was a singer and her mother Diane Hurley was an actress in the Broadway musical theatre.
Then her singing career began to climb uphill after the family relocated to New York when she as a teenager enrolled at a Professional Children's School in Manhattan. Also, she was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, a chronic instestinal disorder during her teens where doctor advised that she can no longer record music. She will get tired, will lose voice, etc. But as her challenge, it turned out that she recorded and released her first album Not That Kind on 2001 that was a huge success reaching the top ten in eight countries in Europe, Asia, and Oceania. It went triple platinum in Australia.
