[edit] About

American Idiot is an album by Green Day, released on September 21, 2004 by Reprise Records. The album is a rock opera in nature, and the plot focuses on a teenager struggling for love and an identity in an uncaring world. American Idiot was nominated for seven Grammy Awards and won "Best Rock Album" in 2005. The album is very different from anything Green Day has ever done, straying farther from the punk genre.

The album has had five successful singles in "American Idiot," "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," "Holiday," "Wake Me Up When September Ends," and "Jesus of Suburbia."
